About Deane Elementary School (8090)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Deane Elementary School

2025-2026

Deane Elementary is located in Lakewood, Colorado within the Alameda Articulation area. We serve a diverse population of approximately 307 students Kindergarten through sixth grade. There are two classrooms at each grade level. We also welcomed a full-day PreK program last year with 20 students. Deane is a Title 1 school with 82% of its students eligible for Free or Reduced Lunch. Its diverse student population includes 75% Hispanic and 17% White. Data groups for Asian, Black/African American, A… merican Indian/Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and Multi-race groups are in groups fewer than 16 so data percentages of each student population group are not reportable. At Deane, 30% of the students are Multi-Language Learners (MLLs). Spanish is the native language of 96% of ELLs. 21% of the student population are students identified with disabilities. On the 2022 Transitional School Performance Framework (SPF), Deane was designated to be in priority improvement with 39.4 points earned. Through the CDE Reconsideration process, based on additional data points including growth data from primary grades we shifted to Improvement status. According to the 2023 1 Year SPF, Deane was designated to be in Improvement with 47.5 points earned. On the 2024 1 Year SPF, Deane was again designated to be in Improvement with 46.7 points earned. On the 2025 1 Year SPF, Deane was designated as Performance at 55.5%. Deane receives Title 1 grant funds to support our students and families. These funds are used to hire an additional 2.0 licensed teachers in order to keep class sizes small, as well as, a literacy tutor. Deane also uses Title 1 funds for 6.5 hours of paraprofessional time. These hours are used to support core instruction and small group interventions in our Kindergarten classrooms. These funds are also used to host family events to build strong partnerships and support learning at home. Deane utilizes a full time Family Engagement Liaison who connects our families with community resources and supports family-school partnerships. At Deane, our vision is All Means All. This drives our decision making and is evident through our student centered approach. We believe that all students deserve an exceptional educational experience where they feel safe, supported, challenged and believe that they belong at Deane. Our staff is committed to supporting all students' academic growth and social/emotional well-being. We pride ourselves in knowing students by their name, strength, need, and dreams. Deane's academic focus for the last few years has shifted between reading and math in order to support the implementation of two new resources. This year we will be focused on improving in both reading and math to ensure students make adequate growth in both content areas. Our school is a Professional Learning Community where we come together weekly as grade level teams and focus on learning, collaboration, and results. Grade level teams include classroom teachers, Instructional Coach, CLDE Teacher, MTSS Interventionist, Special Education Teacher and Administration. We have created a master schedule that provides time for collaboration inside the regular school day. Teams will engage in the Unit and Lesson Internalization process to ensure they have a deep understanding of grade level standards, what students need to know and show and how to intervene. We will also utilize the See it, Name it, Do it Data Meeting protocol consistently to analyze student data, identify the learning gap and plan for the reteach. Our goal over the next three years is to continue to maintain and enhance our collaborative structures and instructional practices to ensure all students receive rigorous, best first instruction. We believe that through intentionality, active monitoring and ongoing adjustments based on data we can continue to support academic growth and close the achievement gap for our students. Our goal is to grow our SPF percentage in order to maintain our Performance status in the years to come.
