About Sheridan 2 (0123)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Sheridan 2

2025-2026

Sheridan School District is one of Colorado's few small, urban school districts. Its unique size (~1,100 students) allows the district to respond nimbly to meet the needs of students and families in the community across its 5 campuses; 1 Early Childhood Center, 1 K-2 Elementary School (Alice Terry), 1 3-8 Intermediate School (Fort Logan Northgate), 1 High School (Sheridan High School), and 1 Alternative Education Campus (SOAR Academy). Sheridan values having a family-oriented, community-centered… approach where staff closely partner with families to provide students the support they need to achieve their goals. Sheridan's improvement plan provides a road map for how the school district, in partnership with families and community members, plans to carry out its vision. Sheridan School District is currently accredited with a Priority Improvement plan by the Colorado Department of Education. District leaders meet quarterly to review data trends, identify systemic strengths and areas for improvement, explore why the district is observing those results, and select goals and actions that would help improve student outcomes. These quarterly reviews result in adjustments to priorities and tightening district strategies and efforts to improve educational experiences for students and increase academic achievement. The District Accountability Committee (DAC) and board review and provide feedback on plans recommended by district leadership.  Sheridan School District employs approximately 300 part-time and full-time staff to ensure Sheridan students are learning and are cared for while they are in the district. There is approximately one educator for every 15 students in the classroom.  Sheridan celebrates the diversity students bring to our community and schools. 80% of our students identify as Hispanic, while the remaining 20% of students identify as White, Black, Asian, Native American, or multi-racial. Many of our students also bring knowledge of a second language to school, with 37% of students being Multilingual Language Learners (MLLs). 88% of students in Sheridan are eligible for food service benefits. In response, Sheridan has a dedicated family liaison in every school to provide support and bring awareness to families and students of additional benefits available to them. Sheridan continues to work toward the identification of gifted and talented learners. Currently, 4.5% of Sheridan students are identified as gifted and talented. As you read our plan we encourage you to reach out to us and learn how you can participate and play an active role in one of Sheridan's many community groups to better our outcomes for Sheridan children.
