About Burlington RE-6J (1500)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Burlington RE-6J

2024-2025

The Burlington School District RE-6J is situated along the I-70 corridor in Colorado?s eastern plains. Established in 1888 as an agricultural hub, Burlington remains rooted in its agricultural heritage. The District is committed to providing a safe environment for all stakeholders and offering meaningful educational opportunities to every student. Partnerships with parents and the community are highly valued, recognizing the shared responsibility in helping children exceed their potential and be… come successful adults. The District serves approximately 700 K-12 students annually and operates a preschool program for 3- and 4-year-olds, averaging 70 students per year. Four bus routes serve more than 80 students daily. The District employs 107 staff members, including 53 teachers. Around 68% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and the student body is diverse, with 50% identifying as minorities and five languages spoken. Burlington High School offers concurrent enrollment classes through Morgan Community College and provides students with 19 different Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. The District boasts a graduation rate of over 90%. A seven-member school board is dedicated to continuous improvement of the District. Burlington operates on a four-day school week, running from Monday to Thursday, with school starting at 7:45 AM and ending at 4:00 PM. Thanks to a community-supported mill levy override last year, the District was able to raise wages to competitive levels, improving staff retention and reducing turnover.
