About Longview High School (5623)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Longview High School

2025-2026

Long View High School is a specialized Alternative Education Campus (AEC) within Jeffco Public Schools that serves students in grades 10-12 facing significant challenges in traditional school settings. Our school is a direct placement campus with restricted access, with all student placements managed by Jefferson County Public School leadership. We serve a unique population of students, including those who have been expelled, received a deferred expulsion, or have been involved in Crimes of Viol… ence (COV), often with severe safety issues, violence-related offenses, or weapons-related incidents. We partner closely with the Juvenile Justice System, including local police departments, pretrial services, and probation officers, to support our students. The primary mission of Long View is to provide a transition-based educational experience, equipping students with the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral skills needed for a successful reintegration into their neighborhood schools. We don't graduate students directly from our campus but rather prepare them for future academic success. School Focus and Offerings Long View's educational approach is built on a comprehensive wraparound support system tailored to meet each student's individual needs. This system is guided by our three core pillars: Connected, Supported, and Proud. Connected: We foster a strong sense of community to ensure students feel integrated into the school environment and connected to their peers and educators. We believe that a supportive peer and staff network is crucial for student growth and well-being. Supported: We provide targeted academic and personal interventions to address the specific challenges our students face. Our offerings include individualized academic plans, credit recovery options, and intensive social-emotional learning programs designed to improve behavior and build essential life skills. We also prioritize building strong partnerships with families and community organizations to create a cohesive support network. Proud: We cultivate a sense of accomplishment and self-worth, helping students take pride in their progress and their commitment to a positive educational path. Our environment encourages students to recognize their potential and celebrate their achievements, no matter how small. Student Population and Specialized Programs Long View High School serves a unique and vulnerable student population. Admittance is by direct placement from district leadership following a comprehensive three-day orientation. Our student body primarily consists of individuals with histories of elevated repetitive behaviors, severe safety issues, legal charges or adjudications, and violence or weapon-related offenses. Approximately 100% of our students are involved with the judicial system (pretrial or probation), and 100% are over age and under-credited. To maintain a secure and orderly environment, all students are required to have an individualized safety plan, and daily searches are conducted. Our staff is highly trained to manage complex behavioral issues and to provide the intensive support necessary for these students to succeed. The goal is to create a secure, supportive, and engaging environment where every student can develop the skills and confidence needed for a successful reintegration into their home schools and a positive future.
