Garfield County School District 16 (G16) serves students from preschool through twelfth grade in the Town of Parachute, Battlement Mesa, and surrounding areas on the Western Slope of Colorado. We operate four schools: Center for Family Learning (CFL) : An early childhood school serving preschool to 1st grade. As you review our Unified Improvement Plan (UIP), you'll note that addressing the interplay between teacher turnover, shifting student demographics, and socioeconomic factors is crucial for enhancing student performance in Garfield 16. This UIP prioritizes efforts to strengthen our curriculum and instructional practices, targeting interventions and acceleration based on student needs and changing demographics, while continuing our commitment to reducing chronic absenteeism across our system. We are currently focusing our efforts on the following major improvement strategies: Early Literacy and English Language Arts Improvement (Tier 1 Instruction Focus) Math Acceleration and Alignment (Tier 1 Instruction Focus) Targeted Interventions for Changing Demographics Teacher Development and Retention Attendance and Student Engagement (through Tardy and Absence Remediation)
