Kim RE-88 is a small rural district located in southeastern Colorado on the high desert, located in the town of Kim, on State Highway 160 between Springfield and Trinidad. The district is geographically isolated with the closest services in Springfield at 50 miles away, and the county seat of Trinidad, at 72 miles away. 25 students in grades Pre-k through 12. Our students receive a lot of individual attention and support with a student centered approach. Most students live on ranches, with some students being bussed up to 50 miles one way to school. The district operates under a four-day school week, with students attending Monday through Thursday, 7:50 AM to 4:05 PM. The school is the focal point of the community; a source of pride, a place to gather, celebrate, and remember, and an essential resource to the community. In January 2016, a newly remodeled and expanded building, made possible by a BEST Grant through the Colorado Department of Education, and a bond passed by the local taxpayers, was opened. This year 24-25 the school is having Friday school at the first week of every month and on an alternative schedule to insure FFA, FBLA, STUCO, and class meetings can he held. Seniors are on a block schedule and can also participate in work based learning (WBL) two days a week. We also offer interventions in Math and Reading to students K-12.
