About Bennett 29J (0050)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Bennett 29J

2025-2026

Bennett 29J is a rural district 30 miles east of Denver. Prior to 2023 the district was comprised of 4 schools: Bennett Elementary Pk-2, Bennett Intermediate School 3-5, Bennett Middle School 6-8, and Bennett High School 9-12. In the fall of 2023, the district opened up it's first charter school, Sky Ranch Academy, which served K-7th grades with plans to add a grade each year. As of 2025, Sky Ranch has opened up to 9th grade. The enrollment within the district has been increasing since the 2017-… 18 school year. Because of the increased enrollment, Bennett Elementary School was transitioned into two schools when a new building was built in the 2019-20 school year. For the 2019-20 school year, Bennett Primary School consisted of grades K-3rd grade and Bennett Intermediate School consisted of grades 4th - 6th grades. This was in effect for two school years. In 21/22, the Primary School consisted of grades K-2nd grades and the Intermediate School housed grades 3rd through 5th grades with the 6th graders moving back into the middle school-this grade level situation is still the current practice. To remedy and boost student growth and achievement for all students within the district, Bennett 29J District Administration has put more strategic supports in place. In 2022, a District Instructional Coach was hired to support all buildings, along with a new administrator within the elementary school-with the sole purpose of boosting primary literacy and math skills. In this year, the district also began a literacy adoption search for Pk-12. In 2023, the District Administration made a few more changes to the scope of the district. A new position was created, Chief Academic Officer, the assistant to the superintendent, and charged with overseeing all principals, district directors, district and building-level academics, and professional development. Additionally, new middle school administrators and a counselor were hired to help catapult student growth in literacy and math but also boost social and emotional supports within the middle school building. In 2024, as another piece of the strategic support plan, BSD implemented a program within a program, for high school students, simulating an alternative program for credit recovery and allowing students the option to graduate rather than drop out. The district provides a full and challenging range of educational programs and services authorized by Colorado State Statute including preschool through grade twelve education in elementary, middle, and high schools; special education through our BOCES; CTE Programming; English as a Second Language Education; Gifted and Talented; and numerous other educational and support programs.
