Shelton Elementary is nestled within a subdivision in Golden, CO, serving preschool through 5th-grade students. Our student body is more ethnically and economically diverse compared to neighboring elementary schools. Currently, we have approximately 358 students in kindergarten through 5th grade and 33 in preschool. We are also home to two ASD center-based programs, which currently serves 22 students. rate rate is 6.5%, and we attribute some of these changes to families relocating due to the high cost of housing in Golden. Our special education population is 17%, including students in our ASD program. Presently, 9% of our students are Multilingual Learners, representing multiple languages spoken at home. Additionally, 11% of our students have Advanced Learning Plans. About 29% of students in grades K-5 are on READ plans, with 28% of K-3 students currently on READ plans. These figures do not yet include data for the 2025-2026 school year. Around 6% of our students are on a 504 plan. Shelton Elementary is staffed with three teachers per grade level in: kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 5th grade, 2.5 teachers in 4th grade, and two preschool teachers. Our full-time Digital Teacher Librarian supports STEM, Maker Space, Robotics, and problem-based learning initiatives. We also have 0.8 mental health support, a 0.6 social-emotional learning specialist, two special education teachers, a 0.6 ESL teacher, two ASD teachers, and 1.4 Speech-Language Pathologists. Our staff includes a half-time instructional coach, paraeducators, a half-time family engagement liaison, Math Corps member, and our Art, Music, and Physical Education (AMP) team, along with other classified employees. In Jeffco, we provide differentiated, job-embedded professional development for all teachers. New and newly-hired district teachers participate in district orientation, Jeffco Induction Days, and work closely with their induction support team for ongoing collaboration.
