About Alameda International Junior/Senior High School (0108)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Alameda International Junior/Senior High School

2025-2026

Alameda International Jr/Sr High School is a comprehensive public school located in an urban area of the Jefferson County Public School District. Just as when Alameda opened in 1947, we serve students in grades 7 through 12 as a Jr/Sr High School. Our school serves a diverse community with various needs. As part of a declining enrollment district, our current student population is approximately 950. Student enrollment varies by grade with the smallest grade being 12th (approx. 135 students) and … the largest being 9th and 10th with around 190 students each.  The reported FRL percentage remained constant around 65%, but observational data would indicate an increase. Free meals being provided during the Pandemic has led to decreased motivation for families to fill out the FRL paperwork, even though we target our efforts to increase documentation. Of the 89.1% minority population, 78% are Hispanic, 4% Asian, and 2% African American. 11.9% of students are white. Fifty-one percent of our enrollment consists of English Language Learners, with over 25% being Non-English Proficient (NEP) and Limited Proficient (LEP). The mobility for Alameda International from 2023-2024 was 36%. As an authorized IB World School, Alameda International is the only school in Jefferson County to offer an authorized International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for all 7th through 10th-grade students and an authorized IB Diploma Programme and IB Career-related Programme for 11th and 12th-grade students. Our students have the opportunity to earn the IB Diploma, IB Career Certificate or the IB Bilingual Diploma or IB Bilingual Career Certificate. Our Spanish Language Arts courses at the middle school and high school level, as well as some dual-language math courses, provide our students with pathways to biliteracy. Alameda International was authorized as an IB World School several decades ago. Our work now is to implement the IB Philosophy, https://www.ibo.org/globalassets/what-is-an-ib-education-2017-en.pdf , with fidelity. Our Mission is that ?Alameda International delivers a challenging, international education in which students act to create a better and more peaceful world through inquiry, intercultural understanding, and respect.?   We are fortunate that our students come from throughout the Denver metro area. We have increased access to IB Diploma courses by adjusting course offerings and continuing to expand MYP school wide. Our IB Diploma Programme has become more diverse; however, the demographics do not yet mirror that of the school. Our enrollment continues to decline, while our numbers of students on IEPs have increased over time. Approximately 82% of our students live in our enrollment zone with the remaining student body opting to choice into our school. We capture approximately 43% of students who live in our boundaries.      Alameda International hosts a variety of clubs, activities, and programs that work to engage students and families with the larger community.   All staff members were asked to complete feedback surveys (Jeffco Listens survey, as well as our in-house created PBST survey) to help guide our work on the UIP. Students were also asked to submit feedback via survey (Jeffco Listens and Panorama surveys). Our Academic Leadership Team (ALT), Operational Leadership Team (OLT), and Proactive Behavior and Safety Team (PBST) participants provided input on the priorities for the year   For the 2025-26 school year, Clara Hoellerbauer will join our team as our new principal and Head of School.
