Creighton Middle School is a comprehensive 6-8 middle school in Jefferson County School District R-1. Creighton has a strong tradition of community support and the student population comes from a wide variety of ethnic, academic, economic, and geographic backgrounds. The CMS faculty and staff work closely with students and welcome the personal interactions that occur on a daily basis. Our educational team consists of over 60 teachers, three school administrators, a Dean of Students, an Instructi… onal Coach, six mental health support professionals that support both academic and social/emotional growth, one library-media specialist, and countless specialists focused on preparing students for a successful future. Creighton Middle School is made up of a diverse population of students including neighborhood students in combination with students from outside the attendance area. Our population consists of approximately 0.5% American Indian, 3% Asian/Pacific Islander, 3.0% Black or African American, 43% Caucasian, 46% Hispanic or Latino, and 3% multi-racial students. Creighton is considered a Title I school with nearly 50% of our student body qualifying for free/reduced lunch program. Creighton is also home to a high percentage of English Language Learners, a Gifted and Talented Center Program and a program for students with significant support needs. Creighton receives Title 1 grant funds to support our students and families. These funds are used to hire a Family Engagement Liaison and an additional 3.0 licensed teachers. In addition to staff, these funds are used to purchase instructional equipment, training and instructional materials, as well as to host family events to build community and support learning at home.  Creighton is a data-driven school focusing on academic growth for all students. The staff uses high impact instructional strategies and research based techniques. Professional development is focused on working as a Professional Learning Community. Creighton is focused on ensuring that all students have an extraordinary experience that recognizes their strengths, challenges them to improve, and support them to succeed. The staff progress monitors growth, sets measurable goals, and implements a strong core curriculum. Additionally, CMS offers instruction to students who require intense interventions of academic acceleration, pace, affective development, and advanced investigation or enrichment. Our teachers work to provide an effective and differentiated curriculum designed to meet the unique needs and goals of each student. As a student-centered community, we strive to motivate all learners to achieve high academic and personal growth resulting in preparedness and enthusiasm to achieve lifelong success.
