Academy District 20 was founded in 1957 and is the largest school district in the Pikes Peak Region, encompassing 130 square miles. With 39 schools, the district serves approximately 26,000 students. As a growing district, there have been approximately 7,000 students added since 2003 and anticipate adding 5,000 by 2028. There are 22 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 6 high schools, an online/hybrid high school and 6-8 program, Home School Academy, and a School in the Woods for fourth grade s… tudents. District 20 is a site/school-based district, which allows schools to make the best decisions to support their communities. This also means that schools can offer unique programs and curriculum, such as International Baccalaureate (IB), Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), and Project Based Learning (PBL). The district also has site-based pre-school programs, summer enrichment, and supports 2 Charter Schools. Students are sure to thrive in the environment and curriculum that will allow them to channel their passion and propel all students to success. The district has a proud lineage of inspirational teachers. Using their unique gifts and talents, the district?s teachers spark greatness in the hearts and minds of each student. Together strong bonds are formed, and true communities established. Students? successes are celebrated, and staff rally around them providing support during challenging situations. At the end of the day, Academy District 20 ensures success for every student both in, and out, of the classroom. District 20 has earned numerous awards and recognition and has been Accredited with Distinction by the Colorado Department of Education since 2009. The district is consistently ranked one of the strongest school districts in the stated based on the innovative curriculum, student performance, graduation rates and college placement scores. The UIP and data analysis process was engaged during multiple meetings of Learning Services team members representing Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Talented and Gifted, Professional Learning, Career and Technical Education, Assessment, MTSS, and English as a Second Language. A wide range of cause and effect data were analyzed. School and District Accountability Committees met to review and approve the UIPs
