About Roaring Fork RE-1 (1180)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Roaring Fork RE-1

2025-2026

Our mission at Roaring Fork Schools is to ensure that every student develops the enduring knowledge, skills, and character to thrive in a changing world.  The Roaring Fork School District is composed of 14 schools serving approximately 5,600 students in three distinct communities of Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, and Basalt in the Roaring Fork Valley. Each community has a PreK-12th grade school continuum that provides consistency and a strong school community. Our student population is composed o… f approximately 58.9% students of color, 29.7% emerging bilingual students (NEP, LEP, M1, and M2), 49.1%who are eligible for free or reduced lunch, 11.8% students with IEPs, 5.9% gifted students, and 0.1% migrant students. Between 48%-51% of our students engage in some level of bilingual thinking, whether they have exited the formal ELD programming or have a primary home language other than English. Programs offered at Roaring Fork Schools include dual language schools (Riverview and BES), dual language classes (BMS), biliteracy programming (GSES), and dedicated support for newly arrived students and those who have experienced significantly limited or interrupted formal education (SLIFE). All RF Schools high schools offer Advanced Placement courses (offerings vary by campus) and partners with Colorado Mountain College (CMC) to provide concurrent enrollment offerings.  In the 24-25 school year, Roaring Fork Schools launched the first year of a 5 year strategic plan that includes five priorities. The planning process from 23-24 was led by external expert Attuned Education Partners;we examined several sources of data to diagnose our strengths and areas for growth, including performance data analysis, instructional quality review, and constituent perspectives.  RF Schools worked closely with a range of stakeholders including students, staff, leaders, community members to provide input on our next set of priorities.  These priorities include Students First , Rigorous Learning for All , Operational Excellence , Student-centered Partnerships , and Thriving Team . Roaring Fork Schools launched a data dashboard to monitor and communicate progress towards achieving strategic initiatives in the plan, and can be viewed here https://www.rfschools.com/en-US/strategic-plan-data-dashboard-400fb8d6 . In Summer and early fall 2025, end of year student achievement and growth data were reviewed along with our district and school performance frameworks to determine what adjustments may need to be captured in the 2025 UIP. District strategic initiatives and planning for 25-26 has been ongoing since spring 2025, and were confirmed in the fall of 2025.
