About Platte Canyon 1 (2600)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Platte Canyon 1

2025-2026

Platte Canyon School District 1 is located approximately 40 miles southwest of Denver, along Highway 285. We are a small, rural district that offers small class sizes, high teacher retention, and a focus on excellence. Both the elementary school and the middle school have been identified as schools of distinction in the last 5 years. Every PCSD1 family holds a unique vision - a vision that culminates in their students? successful transition from our school system into the world beyond us. In the… Platte Canyon School District 1, we take great pride in the subsequent success stories of our graduates, whether that success takes place in the workforce, post-secondary institutions such as college or vocational school, or in the armed services.  It is the mission of the PCSD1 to ?develop lifelong learners in safe, student-centered communities.? Because of our size and location, we are able to provide individualized services to our students, including, but not limited to, post-graduate advising for every PCHS student as well as scholarship application assistance. Part of the PCSD1 advising process is PCMS/PCHS?s use of YouScience personal inventory evaluations, which help students identify possible career paths based on these inventories. Students then develop course schedules, with the assistance of our counselors/advisors, that provide roadmaps for possible related post-secondary experiences. PCHS provides access to 7 AP courses, extensive access to online classes, and opportunities for concurrent enrollment. Each educational area of emphasis offers PCSD1 students opportunities to increase the depth and rigor of their education while giving them the freedom and flexibility to select which educational pathways they choose to experience and complete. Lastly, PCSD is nearing the completion of a three-year consolidation plan, moving all schools and services onto one campus. The consolidation will serve the district well in the future by ensuring sustainability and allowing us to utilize all of our staff to their fullest potential. Platte Canyon is well-positioned to continue offering high-quality, individualized instruction in safe, state-of-the-art facilities.
