About Cheyenne Mountain 12 (1020)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Cheyenne Mountain 12

2024-2025

The Cheyenne Mountain School District is located in the southwest corner of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The District has a total enrollment of approximately 3,500 students in preschool through twelfth grade. There are five elementary schools offering grades K-6 and one preschool. The District has one junior high school for grades 7-8, a high school for grades 9-12, and an educational detention center serving students from 10-17 years of age. The District continues to be Accredited with Distincti… on: "Low Participation" and demonstrated the highest level of proficiency in Colorado on the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS). We have been rated in the top tier of all districts in the State for "performance" for many years. Being at or near the top of all school districts in Colorado in academic achievement is the result of students who come to school ready to learn, strong parent and community participation and support, outstanding teachers and administrators, and a board of education who are committed to providing an environment conducive to all aspects of learning. Cheyenne Mountain is consistently ranked in the top 5% of all school districts in the State of Colorado despite our size and demographics. Approximately 97% of graduates go on to college, many to the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation. Our graduating class of 2024 self-reported receiving over $9.6 million in scholarship awards. We report respectable daily attendance rates and a low mobility rate for students, leading us to conclude that students enjoy coming to school and choose to stay in our district long-term. At the District level, our three priorities are 1) Teaching and Learning, 2) Student and Staff Wellbeing, and 3) Safety and Security. Teaching and Learning includes a continued focus on the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model; Future Learning with an emphasis on Career and Technical Education; Tier I & II Instructional Practices; and Vertical/Horizontal Alignment of practices. Student and Staff Wellbeing includes a focus on strengthening belonging, MTSS protocols and practices, and Tier I & II Behavioral Practices. Finally, Safety & Security centers around strengthening our staff familiarity with protocols, preparedness, and infrastrastructure.
