Patterson International serves 350 students in Preschool through 6th grade in the Lakewood neighborhood of Colorado. Patterson International is a diverse community where learning is relevant, problem solving through inquiry and collaboration is encouraged, and learners take action as global citizens. The staff and teachers focus on developing the whole child to their full potential through the Primary Years Program framework. Patterson International was officially authorized as an IB Primary Yea… rs Program in March of 2008. Patterson completed their PYP/IB reevaluation in the spring of the 2021-22 school year. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program is a comprehensive, concept based framework which utilizes inquiry as the primary method of instruction. Patterson is a neighborhood school that serves a diverse population of students. It also became a Title 1 school in 2022-3, with 56% of students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. In January of 2023 the school moved the preschool program, into the building and the school became a Pre K-6th grade school, serving approximately 350 students. Patterson is a diverse community, we have 8 languages spoken and we have a variety of ethnicities represented. The staff at Patterson is an experienced staff. ?For the 2025-26 school year, Patterson will be in its second year of implementation of Illustrative Math, the district's inquiry based math curriculum and this will be a continued focus for Professional Development (PD) and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) this year. Additionally, this is a self-study year for International Baccalaureate (IB). A self-study year for an International Baccalaureate (IB) school is a year-long, mandatory reflective process where the school and all its stakeholders evaluate how well it adheres to the IB's Programme standards and practices. This process, occurring every five years after initial authorization, serves to ensure consistent quality, identify areas for improvement, and inform the school's action plan for enhancing its IB programs.
