About Coronado Elementary School (1876)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Coronado Elementary School

2025-2026

Coronado Elementary is a suburban elementary school in South Jefferson County, Colorado. The school serves approximately 359 students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Our on-site preschool serves approximately 30 students. Enrollment has steadily declined over the last few years as we lose about 7-10 students yearly. Declining enrollment is a district-wide trend. In addition to general education, Coronado is an Early Access and Gifted and Talented center school. Out of the 359 students served … at Coronado, 17% are in our Gifted and Talented center based program. Two percent are Multilingual Language Learners, 11% are identified as Students with a Disability and 20% identify as a Minority. The at-risk population (indicated by free lunch) at Coronado is currently around 22%. Students on READ Plans are currently at 13%. Coronado offers a rich tapestry of extracurricular clubs and organizations that cater to a wide range of interests and talents. From the intellectually stimulating (and competitive) Chess Club to the melodic harmonies of the Band, Orchestra, and Choir to the Spanish club; there is something for every child to explore. Beyond the classroom, our parents and community are actively involved in the PTA, lending their time and talents to organizing exciting events like the school carnival, read-a-thon, skate night, fun run and silent auction to name a few. These experiences and events foster a sense of community and belonging. In collaboration with Academic Leadership Team and the School Accountability Committee (PIE), we identified our school-wide focus to center on improvements in both math and reading, more specifically on lesson internalization and academic monitoring. Through our work and data collection, we want to ensure that every student, family and staff member feels a sense of belonging.
