Global Village Academy - Douglas County (GVA-DC) is an international language immersion charter school. Every student learns in English plus Spanish, Mandarin, or French, creating a multilingual advantage that opens doors to a global community. The mission of the organization is for Global Village Academy Students to become fluent and literate in English and the second Language, excel academically in core content subjects, and develop twenty-first-century skills, including cross-cultural underst…

Our students develop a global perspective by learning a second language, exploring diverse cultures to cultivate understanding and respect, and developing the skills to live and work with others internationally. In our immersion program, Kindergarten - 5th grade students receive 50% of their instruction in the immersion language. . We currently have 394 students enrolled in K-6th Grade. Many stakeholders are involved in the process of analyzing and creating the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP). Some of the stakeholders include staff members, parents, and board members. Our school accountability committee meets once a month to analyze data and make suggestions for major improvement strategies for the future. Staff members are also involved in the process through the creation of grade and classroom level goals.
