Russell Middle School currently has 528 students as of the October count date. The demographic make up of our school is currently 47% white, 34% Hispanic, 7% African American, 7% Two or more races, and 5% Native American, Asian or Pacific Islander. Russell is a visual and performing arts school where the middle school experience is designed to create a lifelong passion for learning and the arts. r to maintain Russell's high performance and expectations, the school has adopted a Unified Improvement Plan that focuses on Multi-Tiered System of Supports processes and scaffolds committed to student support and proactive to individual needs. In addition, Russell will focus on improving student achievement scores along with growth by utilizing coaching cycles and implementing feedback and professional development processes centered on student agency. In addition, a broader focus towards student interventions via a student accountability and support system will be implemented. Russell will continue Clubs During the School Day to ensure all students can participate with a club, and the BIONIC anti bullying program, where students will be leading the way to create a more safe and accepting school environment. Russell remined a performance school but strives to make greater gains in growth and achievement. With the new UIP plan in place, we are confident that gains in both achievement and growth will be substantial in the next school year. Teachers and counselors involved in the UIP process include Ms. Gray (Math), Ms. Ulrich (ELA), Ms. McElvogue (Counseling), Ms. Luif (SAC Chair), and our admin team (Mr. Dei, Ms. Strombeck, and Mr. Jones).
