Coronado High School Overview Coronado High School (CHS) is a comprehensive suburban high school with a consistent enrollment of approximately 1,200 students. In the previous year, 576 AP tests were administered, with a commendable 63% of students achieving a score of 3 or higher. Additionally, the school offers 30 concurrent enrollment classes, with over 300 students participating in these enriching opportunities. In the 2024-2025 school year, CHS students earned over 2,230 college credits through dual-enrollment and concurrent enrollment programs. The class of 2025 successfully secured over $8 million in scholarship funds for various post-secondary options, including in-state four-year universities, two-year colleges, out-of-state institutions, trade schools, and military service academies. Notably, 85% of graduating seniors reported pursuing post-secondary education, while 2% entered the military. The percentage of students planning to join the workforce directly after graduation and those entering the D11 18-21 transition program will be updated upon finalization . Community Engagement Coronado High School benefits from an engaged community, which includes a proactive Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and a School Accountability Committee (SAC). The development of the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) involved valuable input from the SAC, Academic Council, counselors, teachers, and administrators. Graduation Requirements Students in the classes of 2028, 2027, and 2026 are required to earn 35 credits in core subject areas and 11 elective credits, totaling 46 credits for graduation. The core subject areas include: English Math Social Studies Science Physical Education Economics Health Computer Education Practical Arts In the spring of 2025, the D11 Board of Education revised the graduation requirements for the class of 2029 and beyond. Beginning with this cohort, students must earn a total of 50 credits to fulfill graduation criteria. Of these 50 credits, 35 credits are aligned with the D11 Profile of an Academically Ready Learner. This profile encompasses the following competencies: Skilled Communicator, Innovative Problem Solver, Critical Thinker, Empowered Citizen, Empathetic Collaborator, and Healthy Balanced Learner. The remaining 15 credits are categorized under Continuous Learning, which includes pathways for post-secondary education and skills essential for workforce readiness. Performance Rating Coronado High School is currently rated as an "Performing" school by the Colorado Department of Education, as assessed by the School Performance Framework (SPF). Students are encouraged to select courses that align with an intentional graduation pathway, balancing the completion of graduation credits, competencies, and self-identified career interests through Individual and Career Academic Planning (ICAP). Students identified as performing below grade level may receive supplemental small group tier-two interventions to support their academic progress.
