Doherty High School is a four-year comprehensive high school serving the northeast area of Colorado Springs' School District 11, the third-largest district in the city. The school currently enrolls 1,512 students: 409 freshmen, 424 sophomores, 337 juniors, and 342 seniors, with an attendance rate of 92%. Approximately 42% of students qualify for the Federal Free or Reduced Lunch Program. The student body reflects the city's diversity: 47% Caucasian, 33% Hispanic, 7% African American, 2% Asian, a… nd 11% Other.  Doherty offers 18 honors courses across academic departments, available through teacher recommendation and/or self-selection. The school provides a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses; in May 2024, 413 students took 648 AP exams, with 49.8% earning a score of 3 or higher. AP courses include AP Biology, AP English Language, AP U.S. History, AP Calculus AB, AP Psychology, and AP World History: Modern, among others.  Students also have access to college-level coursework through concurrent enrollment partnerships with the University of Colorado?Colorado Springs, CSU?Pueblo, Western Colorado University, and Pikes Peak State College. Additionally, the Career Start Program with Pikes Peak State College offers specialized vocational training.  Doherty High School offers a number of Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways aligned with the Colorado Career Cluster model. Students have options in CTE, Advanced Placement (AP), Concurrent Enrollment, and specialized pathways focused on trades, military preparation, and workforce development through Work-Based Learning. These programs support a variety of post-graduation plans, whether students pursue a four-year college, technical training, military service, or direct entry into the workforce.
