About Rocky Mountain Prep SMART (9639)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART

2025-2026

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART is a college preparatory high school serving 610 students in grades 9-12 in southwest Denver within the larger 12 school Rocky Mountain Prep network. The school serves a percent of students with disabilities above both Colorado and Denver Public Schools averages. Additionally, 89% of Rocky Mountain Prep SMART students qualify for free or reduced lunch. The principal began her tenure in summer 2022 and has overseen an expansion of enrollment and double digit increase in … student proficiency on the PSAT9, PSAT10, and SAT. Rocky Mountain Prep schools are democratizing college access and preparation for historically marginalized students and families by orienting all decision-making around preparing students for college via our pillars of rigor and love and our academic vision: 1. Literacy = Justice In 9th-12th grade, all teachers are trained in the science of reading and our students use reading to challenge their and others' ideas while mastering research to support and defend various viewpoints. Students reading below grade-level are enrolled in Reading Academy, which provides foundational literacy skills in a small setting to accelerate growth in reading skills and foster a love of reading. 2. Language = Freedom In 9th-12th grade, our students use writing and speaking to raise their voices in powerful confidence to communicate to the broader community who they are, what they stand for, and why that matters. They also use writing to analyze complex texts, ideas, and concepts, ensuring they can speak and write at the collegiate level before graduation. 3. Content = College Access In 9th-12th grade, we focus on intentionally and actively planning with our students for college and career readiness. The content our students learn is essentially college content at this level, and students spend time exploring internships, credentialing programs, and certifications to help enhance their choices and options. The RMP Graduate Guarantee Every RMP student will graduate high school with the following: 1. Multiple acceptances to high-quality colleges, universities, apprenticeship programs, and post-graduate programs that offer a high return on investment and have the necessary support in place to help, particularly our first-generation students. 2. A clear plan for the next steps after graduation has been co-created with the student and their family. This plan will include detailed, immediate next steps, access to a support network to assist and encourage students, and short-term and long-term actions to support their pursuit of their dreams.
