About Edison Elementary School (2510)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Edison Elementary School

2025-2026

We dare to empower the whole student to profoundly impact our world. The D11 mission inspires and supports the goals and values of Edison Elementary. Edison Elementary establishes a culture of collaboration among students, families and the community to ensure successful, self-motivated, critically thinking students. Edison students are empowered with opportunities to grow as individuals in the community and develop critical thinking skills. They are taught skills to pursue their passion and prov… e their potential. This desire to allow all our students to be successful embraces the mission of the school, which aligns with the D11 Strategic Plan. Edison Elementary is a school-wide Title 1 campus in the heart of Colorado Springs. This is Edison's 69th year of educating children. Edison Elementary is a five-time recipient of the Colorado Department of Education Center of Excellence Award and was Accredited with Distinction from the Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education. It has the privilege of being a generational school, which means that we have the opportunity to educate several generations of the same families. Currently, Edison Elementary serves 240 students from Preschool through 5th grade. We have two classrooms at each grade level. Edison uses Title 1 funding to hire additional staff which allows us to strategically and intentionally support our students.  At Edison, we are proud to be a Certified Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Elementary School. Through AVID, we promote a college and career readiness mindset school-wide and use AVID structures to ensure our students are equipped with the skills needed to be successful in middle school, high school, college, and for life. Each school year, we administer a quarterly assessment using STAR to monitor student growth and achievement three times a year. Data is analyzed during PLC meetings to determine where instruction and pacing need to be adjusted. We also offer a primary and intermediate special education program, a CLDE program, a full-day Art, Physical Education, Lab/Library, and a half time Music and Dance program. We have a full time counselor and social worker, and provide speech, and GT services. We currently have 26 staff members who are all highly-qualified by Title 1 requirements. In addition, we have a team of certified, highly-qualified interventionists who provide research-based, targeted, skill-specific interventions to grade K-5 that we invest in through our Title 1 funding and SRD funds. Edison is a school that values community and relationships to support academic achievement for all our students.
