AWCPA is a richly diverse, Title 1 6-12 school. AWCPA is the only 6-12 school in Aurora Public Schools. The middle school is a traditional boundary attendance school, while the high school is an open-enrollment, small high school. AWCPA serves a large immigrant population and has one of the district's highest Multi-Lingual Learner population at 82%. Many of the second language learners are also fairly new to the country. languages, and population at AWCPA. The school had seen much transition and flux, especially post COVID. There was consistent turnover in staff and leadership. The current administration includes a Principal and Assistant Principal who are beginning their third year in the building, a second Assistant Principal beginning her second year in the building, an Administrative TOSA beginning her second year in the position, and a Climate and Culture Coordinator who is new to the role but had been a Dean of Students at the school. This leadership team has been the most consistent team the school has seen since the 2017 school year. In addition, the last two years have seen a high staff retention rate. Over 80% of the licensed staff have been retained in the last two years. This consistency in leadership and staffing has allowed for structures to be implemented and reinforced.
