Mission Statement: To inspire and empower our unique students to develop and apply their high potential within a rigorous and supportive community. Demographics: Aurora Quest K-8 is the magnet school for Gifted and Talented and High Potential students in Aurora Public Schools. Quest has been rated at the Performance Plan: High Participation for the 2017, 2018, and 2019 school years. Prior to the Performance Plan rating, Aurora Quest K-8 earned the John C. Irwin School of Excellence aware from 20… 15-16, as well as in 2022 and 2023. Aurora Quest is located in eastern Aurora, near Buckley Space Force Base. Students attend Aurora Quest from all over the district and are provided the opportunity for transportation from satellite bus stops in the six main areas of the district. Aurora Quest serves students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Aurora Quest is staffed for single grade classrooms in K-8th grade. Class size in K-2 average 23 students, class size in grades 3-5 average 29 students and class size in grades 6-8 average 26 students. In grades K-5, there are two classes per grade level. Aurora Quest staff also included specialists in the areas of PE, Library/Technology, STEM, Music, Art and Special Education. Aurora Quest has 53 staff members. Our student population consists of: 0.2% - American Indian 10% - Asian 20.9% - Black/African-American 20.97% - Hispanic 11.6% - Two or More Races 34.09%- Multi-Language Learners 54.3% - Gifted and Talented 4.4%- Special Education 41.2% Free/Reduced Lunch UIP Planning Process Both the 90-Day Plan and the Unified Improvement Plan were drafted with support from the Instructional Leadership Team using a variety of data points (including CMAS achievement and growth data, ACCESS achievement data, iReady Diagnostic achievement and growth data, and Student and Staff climate data). The Instructional Leadership Team is comprised of teacher representatives from each school level (K-3, 4-5, 6-8), a counselor, the administrative team, the teacher leaders for GT, CLDE and the teaching partner. The Instructional Leadership Team analyzed data for trends in performance for the last three years of CMAS data, including areas of strength, opportunities for growth and any gaps. The Instructional Leadership Team also analyzed the TLCC and Student Climate Survey data as well. The draft of the Unified Improvement Plan was shared with the parent community through the Quest Accountability Committee to see input from parents about possible revisions to the work plan goals and focus. Finally, the Unified Improvement Plan will be shared with the Aurora Quest K-8 staff to solicit feedback on the target goals and root causes.
