Sabin Middle School is a traditional neighborhood school that serves approximately 540 students grades sixth through eighth grade with 65.9% of them receiving free and reduced lunch. Our diverse student population is minority majority with 56% minority students. It breaks down as follows: 41%% Hispanic, 6% Black, and 44%% White, <1% Asian/Pacific Islander, <1% American Indian/Alaskan Native, and 8% Two or More Races with an attendance rate at 89.6% We have 60% boys and 40% girls at Sabin. In add…
ition to our general education program, we have 13.7% English Language Learners and 12.4% of students on IEPs, and 11.8% of Gifted identified students. Our staff consists of 44 highly qualified teachers. 9 paraprofessional classroom staff and 25 support staff. The needs for our Unified School Improvement Plan were compiled by a variety of stake holders including the building leadership team, staff members, and parents. Â We have embedded professional development for staff throughout the school year: curriculum alignment (Amplify professional development, Eureka professional development, content PLC), monitoring data (MTSS, MSAS, PDSA), and differentiated staff development. During our weekly PLC meetings, we focus on student needs based on data collected on MTSS, CMAS, Eureka module exams, Amplify unit exams, and daily formative assessments. Â Sabin Middle School continues to qualify as a Title I school for the 2025-26 school year. Title I funds allow us to help support student achievement by hiring teachers, paying for tutoring, providing school supplies, purchasing technology, and purchasing interventions for reading and math.
