Established in 1953, Taylor Elementary School sits nestled on the southwest corner of Patty Jewett Golf Course in a well-established neighborhood. Its serene location along a newly developed park emulates Taylor's commitment to community partnerships. We received the Governor?s Distinguished Improvement Award, the Excellence in Inclusion Education Award from the District 11 Special Education Advisory Council, and the classification as a School with Accredited Distinction. We serve approximately 170 students. Our fabulous staff is committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure our students achieve success. We strive for academic excellence for all children while simultaneously focusing on the development of the whole child. We work to ensure a healthy balance between academic content, character development, and the developing of 21st-century learners who can think deeply and learn collaboratively. We also offer a multitude of enrichment programs such as intramural sports, music programs, PTA events, afterschool robotics club, sewing club, yoga, student council, and a gamut of other activities to engage students' interests. The success of our school is due to a partnership between dedicated staff and our supportive parents and community who believe in our kids! Our combined efforts and collaboration ensure achievement for all of our students. Our kids are worth whatever it takes!! Taylor is a school committed to excellence and putting kids first! Academic achievement, commitment to safety, and a sense of belonging and community are high priorities. Our philosophy at Taylor stems from the belief that all students will achieve with a growth mindset. We believe that all staff members must demonstrate a commitment to children, building positive relationships through Capturing Kids? Hearts and the pursuit of excellence. Positive relationships create happy, successful individuals. Therefore, we, as a staff, put strategies into place that build those relationships with each student, and with each other as adults in a learning and working community. Taylor is an Arts Integrated school providing students opportunities to learn through interdisciplinary content and demonstrate their learning through the arts. Our teachers utilize problem-based learning approaches, and rigorous college and career readiness standards. Our students demonstrate a high depth of knowledge, practice social and relational skills, and develop strong personal values. Students are provided opportunities to solve problems through the application of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. Taylor is committed to preparing students to become productive 21st century citizens through quality instruction and high expectations for student ownership of learning. We provide differentiated instruction and intervention supports for our students. Our Mission is to collaboratively ignite excitement for learning through arts-integrated instruction with high expectation for student growth and success.
