About Stratton Elementary School (8346)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Stratton Elementary School

2025-2026

Established in 1953, Stratton Elementary School is a public school located in a well-established neighborhood in the heart of Colorado Springs. Stratton serves approximately 270 students PreK-5, and houses one of District 11's Gifted Magnet Programs (GMP) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Inclusion Programs. Our staff is committed to ensuring academic growth and achievement through the development of strong positive relationships and academic rigor. This is done by ensuring there is a healthy b… alance between academic content and character development. As a neighborhood school, Stratton maintains a strong bond to its community. Our PTA (Parent Teacher Association) provides support and resources to the students and staff and hosts multiple school events and activities that strengthen our community bond. Our overall success is due to our connection to our community. We envision a community that empowers every student to achieve academic excellence and embraces a relationship-driven culture. Academic Excellence: -We provide real world and inquiry-based experiences that inspire curiosity and cultivate critical, analytical, and creative thinkers. -We design opportunities which encourage students to explore and own their academic potential. Students will experience goal setting, risk taking and reflection to develop a growth mindset. Relationships: We will leverage mutually beneficial relationships by... Empowering students to participate in the process of building relationships and fostering/maintaining positive relationships within the classroom, school, and the greater community. Collaborating as passionate educators who will integrate SEL into all aspects of the educational experience. We will acknowledge, accept, and build on each other?s individual differences. The elementary Gifted Magnet Program (GMP) has been an integral part of School District 11 for nearly sixty years. The GMP is a full-day, every-day self-contained program for gifted students in grades three through five. The program's philosophy focuses on educating the gifted child through comprehensive curriculum centered on year-long themes. We instruct gifted children using the Autonomous Learner Model of experiential learning and by using a wide variety of exploratory lessons and activities.
