About Lafayette Elementary School (4874)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Lafayette Elementary School

2024-2025

Lafayette Elementary is a Gifted and Talented focus elementary school nestled in the heart of Lafayette, Colorado. Lafayette Elementary is one of the largest elementary schools within Boulder Valley School District with 497 students and about 70 staff members preschool through fifth grade. Lafayette Elementary is an inclusive school where students are celebrated for academic achievements, growth and positive character. Lafayette Elementary fosters a safe and supportive environment where we aims … to cultivate self-confident, lifelong learners. Our process for developing the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) involves collaboration with our teacher leadership team, which includes primary and intermediate grade teachers, Special Education/Intervention Teachers, Specials Department staff, and Administration. The improvement plan aligns with key district initiatives and is guided by BVSD Instructional Services. Additionally, our School Accountability Committee (SAC) is updated on student outcomes and provides feedback on the plan. We keep all Lafayette parents informed about student performance and school goals through regular updates in our weekly newsletter, informal gatherings like principal coffees, and formal School Accountability Committee meetings. Lafayette serves nearly 500 students preschool-fifth grade. Lafayette is the only Gifted and Talented (GT) elementary school in Boulder Valley School District and we offer a variety of after school enrichment opportunities to promote and support the gifts our students have. We have a strong Parent-Teacher Organization that collaborates with school staff to provide a plethora of opportunities to our students and community. Our PTO has been able to fund part-time tutors, which has improved our ability to provide high-quality academic interventions and extensions within the classroom. In addition, we have developed a FET (Family and Educators Together) team to engage families who are not usually represented on our Parent Teacher Organization. Lafayette also offers an Intensive Learning Center (ILC) that supports students with significant learning, physical, or healthcare needs. To enhance support for our English Language Learners, Lafayette is adopting a co-teaching model, enabling these students to more effectively engage with the high-quality universal instruction provided in the classroom. Lafayette Elementary is also a designated Green Star School, recognized for our recycling, composting, and waste reduction efforts through Eco-Cycle. We have a thriving Garden to Table program, Lafayette truly embodies the spirit of a community school!
