About The Classical Academy High School (1630)

A MESSAGE FROM:

The Classical Academy High School

2024-2025

The Classical Academy (TCA) High School exists to assist parents in their mission to develop exemplary citizens equipped with analytical thinking skills, virtuous character, and a passion for learning, all built upon a solid foundation of knowledge. TCA High School started in August 2000. TCA?s instructional philosophy includes classical ideas, Socratic approach, and Charlotte Mason philosophies as outlined in the Core Values on the TCA web-site: www.tcatitans.org. The Classical Academy (TCA) is… the largest K?12th grade charter school in Colorado. Launched in 1997 with 400 students, TCA currently enrolls over 3800 students on three campuses in seven programs. TCA alone is larger than 75% of the public school districts in Colorado. TCA High School currently enrolls about 617 students, and TCA?s demographics closely reflect those of Academy District 20, our chartering district. For the last twelve years (2012 - 2024), the Colorado Department of Education has awarded TCA High School the John Irwin School of Excellence Award (CDE gave no awards in 2020 & 2021)?an award given to schools that demonstrate excellent academic achievement. In seven of the last eleven years (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2023), TCA High School was awarded the Governor?s Distinguished Improvement Award. In 2019, TCA High School was awarded the High School Academic Growth Award from the Colorado Department of Education. The TCA High School UIP process includes input from designated teacher representatives (Department Lead Teachers), counselors, administrators, students (student survey) and parents (annual parent survey & SAC Committee). The TCA High School Principal, the Compliance Officers, the Secondary Dean of Educational Philosophy and the Director of Student Support Services have assisted with this Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) using current and historical site plans, SPFs and UIPs. The report is discussed with the School Accountability Committee (SAC) and shared with the District Accountability Committee (DAC). We provide targeted instruction to those students who show significant deficiencies in English and/or mathematics. Periodic progress-monitoring assessments are used to monitor student growth.
