The teachers at Jackson are all highly qualified. We also provide full time, highly qualified intervention specialists, a school social worker, school counselor, and instructional coach. New teachers are provided an induction program and high quality professional development in order to retain all teachers. We are an AVID elementary school. We are AVID K-5 to support top quality instructional practices to all students. Teachers are highly trained in AVID strategies for quality instruction for all students. The Equity Team at Jackson helps all staff understand all demographic groups that we teach. Through an equity lens, we have participated in different book studies and conferences to make sure there is equity for all student groups. Teachers are continually guided as to how to make their professional practice more culturally relevant in order to make connections with students and their families from various backgrounds.  In order for our staff to understand and connect with students who are dealing with toxic stress, we continue to increase our social emotional learning. We also provide two part time social workers and a full time school counselor to work with students in trauma. At Jackson we provide a social worker in order for us to have a mental health resource for our students, as well as a therapist from North Range Behavioral Health two days per week. We also offer morning meeting time and end of day closing time to provide students a time for their social emotional learning through the Second Step curriculum. Second Step also includes a curriculum focused around anti-bullying. At Jackson, we also provide parent involvement activities throughout the year. We arrange parent involvement activities and educational classes to support communication and learning between non-English speaking parents and school staff in supporting the success of their student/child in school, including written notifications, parent-teacher conferences, back-to-school night, and other school related matters. Continuing for the 2025-2026 school year, Jackson families and community members have access to a food pantry. Parent group and the school accountability committee are other ways parents have an opportunity to be involved at Jackson. In addition, Jackson Elementary has a full time parent and family liaison to support families. Our academic program is comprehensive for all needs, and includes intervention classes, CLD classes, and Special Education classes which are integrated into the school's tiered intervention process to provide collaborative support for ALL student learning. Students are placed in various programs based on their needs, and remain there until our data indicates they don't need the intervention any longer. We have an extensive MTSS program, in which a committee meets bi-monthly to determine best placement and instruction for all students based on their needs. The technology that is used with our students comes in many different formats. We have Viewsonic Interactive white boards in every classroom which provides the teachers with instant feedback when it comes to student achievement. All students have been provided a chromebook, so we have 1:1 devices for all students. This provides individualized instruction for the students, and the teachers know immediately which students require extra instruction.
