Instead of traditional grade levels, students work in mixed-age groups, allowing for more individualized pacing and the opportunity to mentor and learn from one another. Fred Tjardes School of Innovation is dedicated to integrating technology and real-world problem-solving into the curriculum, preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century. The school also places a strong emphasis on community involvement, encouraging students to engage with local businesses, organizations, and projects to apply their learning in meaningful ways. With a focus on innovation, the school continually evolves its methods and practices, ensuring that students are not only consumers of knowledge but also creators and innovators in their own right. As a micro-school with just 124 total students, the school is able to be flexible and agile to meet these needs. There are 11 full-time staff members and one half-time in student facing/instructional positions. The three lead collaborators who serve as the administration for the school are also the co-founders and have been actively a part of the school since it opened.
