About Dos Rios Elementary School (2222)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Dos Rios Elementary School

2025-2026

Dos Rios Elementary School is an Authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) school for the Primary Years Programme. IB schools share a common philosophy?a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Dos Rios Elementary School believes is important for our students. In our most recent authorization visit, we met or exceeded all components of the IB Standards and Practices. We currently collaborate with two other Greeley-Evans IB World Schools within our IB Continuum of … services: Greeley West High School and Brentwood Middle School. Dos Rios values professional growth, and provides opportunities for staff to attend IB workshops, roundtables and symposiums when possible, as well as two grade-level half-day planning sessions per year supported by our IB Coordinator to reflect, refine and connect standards to planners that frame academic work. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit http://www.ibo.org. The mission of Dos Rios Elementary School is, "The Dos Rios staff, parents, and community are committed to empowering and encouraging students to become successful life-long learners and leaders in an ever-changing world. We will work together to create challenging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that emphasize intellectual rigor and high academic standards. Personal integrity and democratic values will be fostered in our students to prepare them to become balanced, responsible, reflective and globally conscious citizens". Dos Rios most recently received a Performance Rating for the 2024-2025 school year, after a previous rating of Priority Improvement in 2023-2024. A core instructional ?Pedagogical Leadership Team? (PLT) regularly meets and collaborates on school improvement efforts to impact student performance and growth utilizing the Colorado Department of Education's Performance Management Tool, or PM Tool. This team consists of the building principal, assistant principal, IB coordinator/instructional coach, grade-level team leaders and teacher representatives from our special areas, special education, and culturally-linguistically diverse departments. Our school district adopted new math curriculum in 2021-2022 and new literacy curriculum in 2022-2023 for Kindergarten and in 2023-2024 for grades 1-5. This continues to inform our focus and need for professional development and coaching in the area of mathematics and literacy to ensure the best first instruction for our students. Support from our leadership group also includes data team process refinement, creation of updated walk-through observation documents, coaching and curriculum supports, and data discussions. In 2022-2023 our PLT realized that we are focusing on too many priorities, resulting in poor performance and growth in the most critical areas. In 2023-2024, our focus was on providing professional development and support for our new literacy curriculum. We also applied for and received an EASI grant, and our administration and school community participated in CDE's Diagnostic Review process in April 2024. The results of this review have informed our focus for our multi-year plan in 2024-2026: Vision for Instruction (Major Improvement Strategy #1) and Effective Student Supports and Culture (Major Improvement Strategy #2). In 2025-2026 we have added a Major Improvement Strategy to include our work with Family and Stakeholder Engagement. This will round out our vision where parents, and community are committed to empowering and encouraging students to become successful life-long learners and leaders in an ever-changing world.
