Located in Greeley, Colorado, Brentwood Middle School is one of four comprehensive middle schools in Weld County School District 6 and has been educating students at its current location since 1963. In regards to the school community we serve, Brentwood currently serves approximately 555 students in grades 6-8. The demographic of our student body is as follows: we are approximately 66% Hispanic, 24% White, and 10% other minorities. 75% of our students have a free or reduced meal plan and 13% are… English Language Learners. We also have 15% of our students receiving special education services and 4.8% who have been identified as being gifted and talented. We are also a site that has a specialized program, Intensive Functional Learning (IFL), which is designed for students who have intellectual disabilities and other significant needs. In regards to our staffing, we have 21 core instructors, five elective teachers, five special education instructors, and one multi-lingual development teacher. Our administrative team is comprised of the principal and two assistant principals. We also have a full-time IB coordinator/instructional coach who provides additional instructional support. As a fully authorized International Baccalaureate school, Brentwood's course offerings are slightly different than our other middle schools because of our adherence to the Middle Years Program. All of our students are typically enrolled in a world language for the entirety of the year (Spanish) and over 90% have traditionally been enrolled in a music course (band, choir, or orchestra). We also have our students take physical education, visual arts, and a design course. In the core, students receive 90 minutes of instruction in language arts and math everyday as well as 90 minutes of science or social studies every other day.
