Vision Charter Academy is a Multi District Online (MDOL) Charter School approved by the Colorado State Board of Education for grades K-12 and authorized by Delta County School District 50J. Per the definition of an online school, learners engage in both synchronous and asynchronous learning with the Individualized Learning Plan located in a Learning Management System (LMS). This school only serves learners in Delta, Montrose, Mesa and Gunnison Counties. While classified as an MDOL, the school's … unique educational structure requires onsite and in person interaction with its academic staff and direct synchronous learning time with a Highly Qualified Coordinator (HQC) weekly at a minimum. The curriculum for each learner consists of core subject areas and electives which are designed, directed, monitored, assessed and adjusted by HQCs specifically for each learner through interaction during the synchronous class, office hours and/or learning sessions each week. As professional educators, VCA HQCs use data from local assessments aligned with the Delta County School District?s standards quarterly benchmarking schedule and informal assessments through collaboration with the parents and learner during their individual synchronous weekly classes (virtual or in person), learning sessions or weekly office hour interactions, their knowledge of content and instructional strategies, and tools provided by the Colorado Department of Education specific to the Colorado Academic Standards to design instruction; assess attainment of skills and adjust instruction, targets, and/or resources in a timely manner to ensure growth while engaging learners within the educational process.
