About Cedaredge Middle School (1375)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Cedaredge Middle School

2025-2026

Cedaredge Middle School (CMS) is a small rural school in Western Colorado that serves students in grades 6?8. Our staff includes 9 teachers, 1.5 administrators, and a half-time counselor. Throughout the year, the CMS team has analyzed student performance data during three in-service meetings, within our administrative leadership team of three members, and through regular review by department leaders. Together, we utilize this data to celebrate our strengths, identify areas for growth, and inform… our school improvement goals. Areas of Focus and Reflection During the 2024?2025 school year, our focus areas included: NWEA MAP Growth Data for English Three-year achievement trends - Colorado Measures of Student Success Areas needing targeted content improvement Growth measures across grade levels We celebrated multiple strengths but also recognized the continued need for improvement. Goal 1: Academic Growth Our top priority for the 2024?2025 school year was to improve outcomes in both literacy and writing. With the addition of targeted intervention periods and the use of quarterly benchmark assessments, CMS aligned instruction more closely with state standards and growth expectations. 2025?2026 Academic Goal: Achieve an average growth of 6 RIT points across grade levels in both Reading, Math and Science on the NWEA MAP assessment. Goal 2: Writing Across the Curriculum Our second goal emphasizes literacy through weekly writing tasks, evaluated using the ACE rubric (Answer, Cite, Explain). This approach is cross-curricular, with all teachers implementing ACE strategies in their content areas. Writing samples and data are reviewed in PLC groups, where instruction is adjusted before strategies return to the classroom. Goal 3: Relationships and Student Well-Being Building strong relationships remains a central value at CMS through our Capturing Kids? Hearts program. Alongside this, we use multiple social-emotional surveys?including Healthy Kids Colorado, Panorama, and the Resiliency Survey?to ensure students feel safe, connected, and engaged. Our ultimate goal is to provide an environment where every student feels valued and enjoys being part of the CMS community. Goal 4: Creating a Culture of ?No Opt out on Learning? At Cedaredge Middle School , we are dedicated to fostering a culture that prioritizes the success of every student. All students can achieve at high levels, and it is our responsibility to ensure no one is left behind. We encourage students to take advantage of every opportunity CMS offers?academics, activities, and community building?because engagement is key to growth. Our philosophy is simple: there is no opt-out when it comes to learning. Every student will be supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed.
