Colorado Connections Academy at 27-J is a fully online virtual public school serving students throughout the state of Colorado. This school was opened in the 2022-2023 school year as a sister school to Colorado Connections Academy at Durango, which has been in operation since 2016, and Colorado Connections Academy at 27-J, which opened in the 2021-2022 school year. school was transferred to a partnership with 27-J schools in Brighton, and the partnership with Durango Public Schools ended at the end of the 23-24 school year. Due to these connections, Colorado Connections Academy at 27-J was able to benefit from over 20 years of virtual education experience upon opening. As a virtual public school, Colorado Connections Academy at 27-J provides certified teachers and counselors, a standards-based curriculum, and a wide variety of synchronous and asynchronous supports for students. The mission of the school is to maximize individual student potential by delivering top-quality, personalized instruction in a high-tech virtual environment. This is accomplished by building connections with each student and family to create a Personalized Learning Plan that meets every student's academic needs in order to ensure they are capable of achieving academic success. As mentioned previously, Colorado Connections Academy at 27-J is authorized by school district 27-J. The school's main office is located in Englewood, CO, with a majority of employees working remotely. The school staff use a wide variety of strategies and platforms to build connections with their colleagues, students, and students? families which allows them to create a positive school culture despite not being together physically each day. All school staff begin each week by attending a virtual staff meeting and throughout the week they connect through grade-level staff meetings, Professional Learning Communities, and other regularly scheduled meetings that allow for professional collaboration and team building. During these meetings, they focus on professional development and learning, student achievement and outcomes, strategies to support learners, and other ways to guarantee that we are meeting the needs of students and are the best online school option for students across the state of Colorado.
