Chavez/Huerta K-12 Preparatory Academy is a public charter school under the authorization of Pueblo School District 60. Our school population is approximately 945 students, 400 at Ceasar Chavez Academy (k-5), 315 at Ersilia Cruz Middle School(6-8) and 230 at Dolores Huerta Preparatory High School (9-12). Approximately 83.5% of our students identify as minority students, with 86% or those students identifying as Latinx. Approximately 83% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. The stu…
dents who are enrolled with us live in Pueblo County and surrounding areas. Approximately 9% of our students are identified with an Individual Education Plan. 68% or our K-3 students are on READ Plans and 10% of our students are on ELL Plans. 2% or our students are on 504 plans, and 2% of our students are identified gifted and talented. 3% of our population have been identified as requiring an MTSS plan. 100% of our students are involved with the Early College Program in cooperation with Pueblo Community College, Colorado State University-Pueblo, or University of Colorado- Denver. The school is known for its Mariachi and Folklorico Dance Program, as well as its success in graduating students with Associates Degrees with High School Programs.
