Sierra Vista is a PreK-5th is a PreK-5th grade school in Pueblo County School District 70. It is located in the center of the Pueblo West community and serves a relatively stable population of students and families. Sierra Vista has maintained a Performance Rating for the past several years, both before and after the COVID pandemic. Staff Configuration: Sierra Vista consists of the following: One principal, a full-time dean of students, 18 classroom teachers encompassing three teachers per grad…

The support staff consists of the following staff members: 2 exceptional student services teachers, a 0.5 English as a Second Language instructor, a 0.5 School Counselor, a physical education teacher, a music teacher and a Title I teacher. At this time, 100% of staff are Highly Qualified. Support Services:Â Sierra Vista provides specialized individual services in the area of English as a Second Language, Gifted, as well as Exceptional Student Services for those students who have been identified. Each student that is identified has a tailored Individualized Plan that ensures the services are provided in direct alignment with the identified student educational goals/needs. Sierra Vista will be delivering targeted intervention services for students in Reading in grades K-3 provided by a Title I teacher during the 202-2022 school year. Early Childhood Programs (Preschool & Kindergarten):Â The staff at Sierra Vista believes in preventative intervention as a means for closing the achievement gap and therefore, works in collaboration with the Early Childhood Department. Sierra Vista provides four 1/2 day preschool programs. Each classroom serves up to 16 students. We have a total of 51 students in preschool in preschool this year. Student Demographics:Â Student enrollment at Sierra Vista has decreased slightly to 390 students in grades K-5 . About 44% of the student population at Sierra Vista is white, 47% are hispanic and 9% make up other ethnicities. 55% of students at Sierra Vista qualify for free and reduced lunch. Sierra Vista had an attendance average of 92% and a mobility rate of 4.6%. English as a Second Language:Â Less than 5% of the students at Sierra Vista speak English as a second language.
