About Sandrock Elementary (1936)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Sandrock Elementary

2025-2026

Sandrock Elementary is one of four elementary schools in Moffat County School District. Sandrock Elementary serves approximately 280 students in Kindergarten through Fifth grade. We are in our fourth year of implementing a four day school week, Monday through Thursday. Our collective vision for Sandrock is to Foster the Future by ensuring we educate, engage and enrich every student, every day! At Sandrock, every student engages and receives standards-based instruction in all core academic areas … including reading, writing and math. Our dean of students, school counselor and school-based mentors provide behavioral and social-emotional support to students on a regular basis. We are fortunate to partner with Northwest Youth Resiliency Group and Partners for Youth who provide another layer of social emotional and mentoring supports with small groups and individual students on a weekly basis. Additionally, all students attend Project Lead the Way (PLTW) where Next Generation Science Standards are utilized on a weekly basis. We offer students special programming based on Colorado Academic Standards and high engagement by utilizing Robotics, Accelerated Reading (AR) reading incentives and support through Rotary Club of Craig, perfect attendance recognition and students who demonstrate positive behaviors at special assemblies on a monthly basis. All students also receive PE and Music every day, as well as access to Library, Art and Second Step lessons each week. Sandrock Elementary's staff is committed to meeting the needs of all who attend by providing an effective instructional program designed to improve students' academic, social, emotional and physical growth. We continue to align resources, strategies and wrap around support as we define Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for every student, every day. We are in full support and aligned with the mission and strategic plan of the Moffat County School District (MCSD) which is to educate and inspire our students to thrive in an environment of change. We strive to accomplish and meet our school goals through the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders: educators, support staff, parents/guardians, community members and our students.
