the state of Colorado?s academic and non-academic priorities, as well as our mission and vision. At Grand Peak, we believe that high-quality teachers and staff are essential to strong student outcomes. Our diverse student body includes 49% minority students. To enrich learning beyond the classroom, we offer a wide variety of clubs and activities, including Landsharks, karate, cooking, Legos, gardening, basketball, volleyball, cartooning, band, choir, and Character Council. Grand Peak Academy is committed to supporting the whole child. Students engage in social-emotional learning lessons led by our school counselor, and all staff are trained in Capturing Kids? Hearts ?a character-based program that fosters relationship-driven culture and student connectedness. In addition, our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program establishes common expectations and positive interactions across the school. Student efforts are recognized through ?bear paws,? which can be redeemed for prizes and incentives. The Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) is developed collaboratively with input from the administrative team, teachers, and Math and Reading Intervention staff. Data is reviewed to identify trends and student performance priorities, and the plan is then presented to the School Accountability Committee and School Board for approval. Mission The mission of Grand Peak Academy is to develop students of great character who are culturally aware, accepting of diversity, and appreciative of history, arts, mathematics, and sciences, while being prepared to meet the challenges of the modern world. We value parental partnership through active involvement in school life and community stewardship through support of local charities and hosting of community events. Vision We provide cultural immersion through a coherent, cumulative, knowledge-based curriculum that exposes students to the diversity of the world around them. Our athletics program emphasizes teamwork, perseverance, leadership, and sportsmanship. Our music and arts programs encourage imagination, creativity, and self-expression. We expect and encourage parents to be active partners throughout their child?s educational journey.
