Prairie Winds Elementary is located in the suburban town of Monument, Colorado, in Lewis-Palmer School District #38. PWES serves approximately 375 students in grades K through 6th. 74.8% of our students are Caucasian, followed by 9.46% Hispanic, 12.70% multi-racial, 1.35% Asian/Pacific, 0.5% American Indian/ Alaskan Native and 1.08% Black. welcoming school environment. Prairie Winds has received the John Irwin School of Excellence award each year it has been awarded since 2008. Complementing our academic curriculum, we offer music, PE, art, Choir, SMART Lab, KKids/Student Council, GE, and special education programs to include one center-based programs for children with autism. Our Special Education Program serves 11.35% of our students, our Gifted and Talented Program serves 13.78% of our students, 3.78% of our students are serviced under a 504 and our ELL Program serves 1.08% of our overall students. The Responsive Classroom philosophy is practiced throughout our building. We provide after school enrichment opportunities along with an onsite before and aftercare program provided by Leading Edge.
