Avondale Elementary is a school in the small town of Avondale located in rural District 70. Avondale Elementary has a high poverty rate with a free and reduced rate of eighty percent. Avondale Elementary operates as a school-wide Title I school. We currently have six classroom teachers. Our staff also includes one ELL teacher, one full-time music teacher, one physical education teacher, one ESS teacher along with two paraprofessionals and an instructional aide. With ESSER funds gone, we had to e…
liminate interventionists and coaching. In addition, we have a Pre-Kindergarten program that has 16 students, a director and two assistants. There is a variety of situational poverty and generational poverty in our school community. Due to these challenges, many families live in homes with extended families with multiple occupants in a single home. The school?s Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) is developed in collaboration with teachers, parents, and students. The school's accountability committee (SAC) consists of students, staff, parents, and community representatives. The members of the SAC review the plan and provide the school leadership with feedback. We collect feedback through the year with surveys, and our Title 1 nights. As a school, we used iReady, DIBELS and CMAS as the normed-assessments to formulate our Unified Improvement Plan. The data in CMAS for ELA highlights three areas: Comprehension (Informational Text), Vocabulary, and Writing. The data for iReady highlights two areas: Comprehension and Vocabulary. The CMAS data for Math highlights two areas: *Number Sense/Operations, Reasoning properties of operations relationship between addition and subtraction, relationship between multiplication and division and identification of arithmetic patterns.
