Crested Butte Elementary School is part of a K-12 Community School in the small mountain resort town of Crested Butte, Colorado. Our enrollment is approximately 300 students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The adults in our school community work together to provide a safe learning environment for students to explore a variety of skills, knowledge, and interests. We design rigorous and engaging learning experiences that inspire, support and challenge them to become successful and confident you…
ng adults. We value a positive school culture by fostering a sense of belonging, acceptance and appreciation for ourselves and others. We believe in a well-rounded school experience and offer several programs outside of the general curriculum. They include alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, skating, swimming, the Celebrate the Beat program, The Guinea Project, Garden Science with Mountain Roots, and Field Studies with Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory. As in most schools, our students have varying needs and competencies. We work hard to provide research-based academic and emotional support programming, small group instruction for intervention and enrichment, as well as employing Restorative Practices for relationship building and responding to conflict and discipline. As part of the Gunnison Watershed School District, we are committed to the recently adopted 2030 Strategic Plan. Our Unified Improvement Plan is aligned with the priorities outlined in the district plan: Holistic Learner Experience, Caring and Exceptional Staff, and Strong Family and Community Partnerships.
