Skyway Elementary School was founded in 1955. With grades Kindergarten through 6th grade, the school serves approximately 300 students. The school has 48 staff members, including 30 licensed teachers. Staff consists of highly qualified certified teachers and highly qualified paraprofessionals. Students attend a Specials class each day to include PE, General Music, or Art. Students also engage in counseling lessons. Skyway Elementary School partners with our families and community to provide a sa… fe, inclusive environment that prepares each child with a comprehensive academic foundation. We create a positive learning environment that inspires connection, compassion, and curiosity. Our students love learning, develop respect for each other and are inspired to ?Do what?s right!? As a school in the #1 ranked Cheyenne Mountain School District, Skyway Elementary School is rich in history and long-standing traditions. Skyway focuses on providing students a meaningful and memorable school experience. Skyway focuses on student achievement as informed by formative data, prioritizes student social-emotional wellness, and is a true community school. Skyway balances a rigorous academic program with social emotional programs such as Capturing Kids' Hearts from the Flippen Group. The school has a dedicated staff who continuously engage in professional learning to improve their knowledge and effectiveness. Skyway staff is dedicated to supporting our students and ensuring they have the foundational skills to be successful at every step of their academic journey. Students? successes are celebrated, as staff develop meaningful relationships with students and their families, providing support during challenging situations. Multiple clubs and opportunities are available for students to explore their talents and passions: Girls on the Run, Art Club, Intramural Sports, Tinkering Club, Jewelry Making Club, Grade-Level Musical Performances and Service Club. Skyway is the only Title I school in Cheyenne Mountain School District 12, with a high poverty and mobility rate for our students. Skyway?s three priorities are aligned to our District?s: 1) Teaching and Learning, 2) Student and Staff Wellbeing, and 3) Safety and Security. Teaching and Learning includes a continued focus on the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model; aligning instruction to Colorado Academic Standards; strengthening Tier I & II Instructional Practices; and Vertical/Horizontal Alignment of practices. Student and Staff Wellbeing includes a focus on strengthening belonging, refining our MTSS consult model protocols and practices, and strengthening Tier I & II Behavioral Practices. Safety & Security centers around strengthening our staff familiarity with protocols and crisis preparedness.
