A MESSAGE FROM:

Cheyenne Mountain High School

2024-2025

Cheyenne Mountain High School continues to demonstrate excellence in academic achievement, with our students consistently outperforming local, state, and national averages on key assessments. In 2024, our students achieved impressive results on the CO PSAT and CO SAT exams. Our combined 9th and 10th grade CO PSAT scores in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Math far exceeded the state averages, with EBRW scores averaging 528.1 (state average for 9th, 451; state average for 10th, 473) … and Math scores averaging 507.1 (state average for 9th, 430; state average for 10th, 445). Similarly, our 11th-grade students achieved mean CO SAT scores of 574.1 in EBRW (state average, 500) and 550.1 in Math (state average, 477). Additionally, the Class of 2025 had an average SAT composite score of 1125, with 99% of the class participating in the exam. Our students' success in Advanced Placement (AP) courses further highlights their commitment to academic excellence. In May 2024, 482 students took a total of 1,049 AP exams across 28 subjects, with an impressive 87% of exams receiving a passing score of 3 or higher. This performance underscores the rigor of our academic programs and our students? readiness for college-level coursework. Furthermore, Cheyenne Mountain High School continues to receive an "Exceeds" rating in Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness as part of the School Performance Framework. In addition to our academic successes, our school schedule remains focused on providing students with the resources they need to excel. The modified-block schedule, featuring three 8-period days and two 4-period block days, includes an hour and a half of Access time each week. During Access, students can meet with teachers for academic support, work on assignments, or use the time for personal needs. Our Academic Learning Labs provide additional opportunities for students to receive support in core subjects, such as English, Math, and Science. Data from the past year has shown a strong correlation between lab attendance and improved course grades, demonstrating the effectiveness of this intervention. Our commitment to preparing students for postsecondary opportunities is evident in the wide range of academic offerings at Cheyenne Mountain High School. In addition to 32 AP courses, students have access to 23 dual enrollment opportunities in subjects such as Philosophy, Calculus I and II, College Composition, Art History, Psychology, Engineering Design, and Biomedical Sciences through partnerships with the University of Colorado's Denver and Colorado Springs campuses. Our partnership with Pikes Peak State College?s Career Start Program allows students to explore and work towards certifications in career fields such as Cybersecurity, Automotive Technologies, Construction, and Veterinary Assistance. These programs, alongside our internship and work-based learning initiatives, provide students with practical skills and experiences that prepare them for both college and the workforce. With a mission of advancing our tradition of excellence and a vision of fostering each student?s academic, athletic, and artistic potential by promoting independence, innovation, and integrity in a safe, supportive, and socially responsible community, Cheyenne Mountain High School is dedicated to creating a dynamic environment where students can pursue their dreams and passions while achieving their highest potential, supported by a staff fully committed to both their academic growth and personal wellbeing.
