About Peakview Academy at Conrad Ball (0510)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Peakview Academy at Conrad Ball

2024-2025

Peakview Academy at Conrad Ball is a neighborhood school serving learners in Early Childhood through 8th grade that opened in the Fall of 2023. Our most recent enrollment numbers show that we serve 500 learners in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, and 38 learners in Early Childhood. This school is the product of the consolidation of three traditional schools, Mary Blair Elementary, Monroe Elementary and Conrad Ball Middle School, as well as the Monroe Early Childhood Center in the Thompson … School District. Due to steady declining enrollment at all four sites, the Thompson School District began preparing to consolidate these sites into one EC-8th grade school in the Fall of 2021. Like it?s academic predecessors, Peakview Academy serves one of the most diverse communities in the Loveland community. Learners and families in our school speak over 7 different languages and identify as variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds.  As part of our consolidation and reimagining of the instructional model at Peakview Academy, and as a result of our work to move away from ?Priority Improvement? status, we moved to the EC-8 model to establish a new configuration and approach for instruction. This new model included updated staffing, teaming structures, building culture and climate, and a transition to Title I school status. Further, leveraging EASI grant funds, Peakview Academy has undergone two extensive and comprehensive reviews as part of the process related to our Priority Improvement Status. The first occurred in the Spring and Summer of 2023 as we partnered with TNTP to develop a plan for consolidation that addressed blending our schools instructional practices and ensuring that all staff offered high-quality instruction to each child in our building. The second, a Diagnostic Review, occurred in the Spring of 2024 when we partnered with the Transformation Network/CDE to develop a plan for further improvement going into our second year of existence as a full EC-8 school. Developing upon the initial work done in 2023, the Instructional Leadership Team at Peakview used this data to refine our Vision for High-Quality Instruction to ensure that all staff knew our expectations for teaching and learning at PVA, as well as the specific elements that bridge our community and build a strong sense of belonging at our school. This plan is continuing implementation into the 24-25 school year. As a Title 1 designated school, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to offer a unique set of experiences to our learners across all grades. We provide learning experiences such as field trips and guest visitors that provide our learners with the option to explore outside of our neighborhood - for example: trips to a local farm to harvest fresh fruits and vegetables, professionals from our community who speak about opportunities for careers and professions after graduation, trips to local art exhibits and shows, as well as visits to colleges and universities, and much more.  Our learners also benefit from the extended model of attending one school for a continuous nine academic years. This allows our learners, families, and staff to build strong, lasting relationships to better serve our community, and creates an opportunity for learners to build comfort and a sense of belonging within our school setting, thus mitigating challenges presented with re-familiarizing themselves with school expectations and social factors, as is common when moving from elementary to middle school.
