Venetucci Elementary is a Widefield School District 3 school located in the southern part of Colorado Springs. We serve a student population of 276 students from grades kindergarten through 5th grade. Our school is proud to have 3 WISC classrooms that are a self contained program for students that need social and/or communication support. We are a proud AVID school. Teachers and Staff incorporate practices in daily instruction around organization, higher level thinking and college and career pos… sibilities. Student Population:  Venetucci is a K-5 elementary school. For the 2025-2026 school year, 276 students have been enrolled. Average class size is 22 students per teacher. Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch is 55%. Students with Disabilities is 45% of the population. Students that qualify as multilingual learners is at 6.5%. Venetucci has a center-based program for students with Autism that serves 27 students in K-5.   Staff Configuration:  Venetucci has 12 certified classroom teachers assigned to kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms. Kindergarten - 5th grade have two class sections each. One certified special education teacher is assigned to a caseload of Kinder-3rd grade students with IEPs, and 0.5 certified special education teacher is assigned to a caseload of 4th and 5th grade students with IEPs. Two full-time certified Title I teachers service Venetucci's K-5 Title I student caseload by providing interventions in reading and math. Venetucci has one GT teacher who focuses on serving 3rd-5th grade students identified GT or in the GT talent pool in reading and math. One half-time ELL teacher serves students identified as English Language Learners. One music teacher and one physical education teacher serve the entire student population on a three day rotation. One STEM lab educational assistant and library educational assistant serve the entire student population each week. A school counselor plans and delivers K-5 SEL lessons related to PBIS & Zones of Regulation two times per month and works with the full-time School Social Worker to support small-group and individual student needs. They also attend special education staffing meetings and support with delivery of services as needed. In addition to the general education classrooms, Venetucci has three teachers and seven educational assistants who service students with autism in a full-day, center-based program. School Process Data: The K-5 core reading program is Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt-Into Reading and iReady for Kindergarten -5th grade. Tier II instructional materials for reading include SIPPS Beginning, Extension and Challenge, 95 Percent, Heggerty, 6-Minute Solutions and Read Naturally, Tier III instructional materials for reading include the teacher led iReady lessons, SIPPS, 95 Percent and Snap Words. The K-5 core math program is Pearson enVisions and iReady for kindergarten- 5thgrade. The Tier II instruction for math is additional time, small group, and a double dose of the core instruction. The K-5 core writing program is Every Child a Writer. Differentiation for writing occurs in small group settings by double dosing target skills. Behavior Support: Venetucci has implemented Positive Behavior Interventions and Support school-wide and in individual classrooms. Behavior expectations are taught to all students in the appropriate environment/location at important checkpoints throughout the year and guidelines are posted throughout the school. The school-wide behavior expectations are defined as T.E.A.M. T ? Trustworthy, E ? Effort, A ? Attitude, M ? Manners. Students receive recognition through TEAM tickets and daily prize drawings for demonstrating behaviors that adhere to at least one component of the TEAM matrix. Each classroom teacher implements a classroom management system that uses behavior levels. The system is consistent in expectations throughout each classroom school-wide. The Renaissance program recognizes students for both academic achievements and efforts as well as demonstrating good behavior. Students earning Renaissance brag tags are recognized at quarterly assemblies/celebrations. Venetucci uses a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) school-wide program using the Zones of Regulation curriculum. The school counselor and classroom teacher provide direct instruction to classrooms two times per month. Tier II and Tier III Behavior support includes social skills intervention provided by the full-time counselor, full-time social worker, and/or part-time school psychologist to provide targeted, small-group instruction and individualized practice using Zones of Regulation. Support Services: Venetucci provides specialized individual services in the area of English Language Learners, Gifted and Talented, as well as Special Services for those students who have been identified. Each student that is identified has a tailored ML, IEP or ALP that ensures the services are provided in direct alignment with student educational goals. Stakeholder Involvement: The UIP development process includes Venetucci staff analyzing and discussing current data, historical trends, and short-term and long-term goals at monthly data meetings. Members of the Building Leadership Team/AVID Site Team meet to review input from staff and determine the next steps for Venetucci in regards to professional development for staff. The Building Accountability and Advisory Committee meets to discuss historical data trends, current data, and determine the next steps and goals for the building in regards to resource allocation for the core program, interventions, and professional development. Venetucci conducts a Title I Needs Assessment by gathering input from teachers and parents on what school needs are a priority. Those needs are shared with the Building Leadership Team/AVID Site Team and the Building Accountability and Advisory Committee. This Unified Improvement Plan serves as our needs assessment where we are identifying our needs, performance challenges, and root causes in order to set priories for future action.
