About Parkview Elementary School (6794)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Parkview Elementary School

2025-2026

Parkview Elementary School, located in Lamar, Colorado, serves students in grades three through five and currently enrolls approximately 260 students. More than 85% of the student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, reflecting the school?s commitment to meeting the diverse academic and social needs of a predominantly economically disadvantaged student body. The Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) was collaboratively developed with input from parents, school staff, district leadershi… p, and administrators to ensure a shared vision for continuous growth and improvement. During the 2024?2025 state assessment cycle, Parkview Elementary students did not meet state expectations for academic achievement in any tested content area. As a result, the primary focus for the 2025?2026 school year is on improving student performance in reading and mathematics through strategic instructional enhancement, increased student attendance, and a continued emphasis on recruiting, supporting, and retaining high-quality educators. The school employs thirteen core classroom teachers who operate within a block schedule structure. This model enables teachers to specialize in a single content area?either reading or mathematics?allowing for deeper instructional expertise and consistency throughout the day. Specifically, six teachers focus exclusively on mathematics instruction and six on reading, maximizing the effectiveness of lesson planning, assessment, and targeted interventions. The block schedule also facilitates the establishment of grade-level and content-specific Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), promoting ongoing collaboration, data-driven reflection, and shared accountability for student learning outcomes. Instructionally, Parkview Elementary prioritizes differentiation to meet students? varying academic needs through a combination of whole-group and small-group instruction. A continued emphasis on ?push-in? services will be implemented during the 2025?2026 school year, enabling interventionists and support staff to work alongside classroom teachers within the general education setting. This approach fosters a more inclusive and responsive instructional environment where students receive targeted, individualized support aligned with their current performance levels. Through these coordinated efforts?focused on instructional specialization, professional collaboration, family and community engagement, and tiered academic supports?Parkview Elementary is committed to accelerating student growth and achievement while cultivating a culture of high expectations, equity, and excellence for all learners.
