About Lamar Middle School (4956)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Lamar Middle School

2025-2026

Lamar Middle School (LMS) Lamar Middle School (LMS) serves students in 6th to 8th grades and is committed to enhancing educational services. Currently, we have an enrollment of 268 students, supported by a dedicated team of 20.5 teachers and 10 paraprofessionals who are focused on the success of our diverse student body. With a 62% ethnic minority representation and 72% of students enrolled in free and reduced-price lunch programs, LMS takes pride in its inclusivity. We also support students wit… h special needs, making up approximately 19 % of our population, and those with English Language needs, representing about 11%. As we enter the 2025 school year, we have implemented significant scheduling changes, including last-hour enrichment classes for all students. This initiative targets identified deficiencies in core classes, ensuring that every student receives the necessary support. We are also using resources like IXL to provide individualized assistance in core subjects. We are implementing an intervention program with our 6th grade students. Our academic goals are ambitious: we aim to exceed state averages in the percentage of students scoring at grade level across all subjects. While our 2025 School Performance Framework (SPF) score currently stands at 48.2 out of 100, categorizing us as a school in need of improvement, we are committed to making progress. Strengths High Participation Rates: Participation rates remain strong, with 95?97% of students completing state assessments across most groups. Solid Academic Achievement: Mean scale scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math show students performing near state benchmarks, with ELA at 734.4 and Math at 724.0 for all students. Positive Growth in ELA: Median growth percentiles indicate that most students are making progress, with ELA growth at 46.5 for all students. Weaknesses Achievement Gaps: Performance disparities persist among Free/Reduced-Price Lunch eligible students, Minority students, Multilingual Learners (MLLs), and Students with Disabilities (SWD). Low Scores for MLLs and SWD: Multilingual Learners and Students with Disabilities are scoring below ?Approaching? in multiple areas, particularly in ELA and Math. Math Growth Concerns: Median growth percentile in Math is lower at 40.0 for all students, with MLLs at 44.5 and SWD at 42.0, indicating challenges in growth for these groups. Conclusion Lamar Middle School remains committed to providing an equitable and supportive learning environment that fosters growth for every student. Our 2025 data informs our Unified Improvement Plan, guiding targeted interventions to close achievement gaps, accelerate learning for MLLs and SWD, and ensure continued growth across all academic areas.
