Alta Vista Charter School is the only non-graded school in the district and the oldest, having been founded in 1917. It is also the smallest school, serving 133 students in grades K-6. Despite its size, Alta Vista consistently ranks as one of the top-performing schools in the district based on student achievement. The school boasts a dedicated teaching staff, including 7 classroom teachers, 1 full-time Special Education teacher, 1 part-time Special Education teacher who also serves as Vice Princ…
ipal, a full-time interventionist, and a P.E. and Music teacher. All teachers are classified as Highly Qualified, with a minimum of 9 years of experience and an average of 21 years overall. There is a strong sense of community among the staff, who actively support and mentor one another by sharing ideas and collaborating on curriculum.
